Main character design
This took way longer than I was expecting. Granted I'm not that big a fan of modeling, but even so the complexity of the mechanics here took forever. I'm still not too happy with the look of the whip hand, but I may need to see that in motion to really make a judgement. Maybe put some kind of cap mechanism at the end of the arm for the whip to thread through.
I've some concern that just the character is about 11mb already, with no rigging and no textures. Good thing I added an extra gig of ram. I went for I higher res base model because Maya smoothing was not giving the hard edged effects I wanted. So that's the model. Or rather, here it is:

Mechanics of character
Its been a while. I find it easier to do this project than to write about it.
I'm working on modeling the main character. Its proving difficult because it has to work mechanically, and be able to come apart. Hope to have it done in the next day or so. Rigging should be relatively straight forward, so it's important that I model it correctly. Here is what it looks like currently:

I wonder if making the character's movement limited based on structure will help or hinder the overall effect of my thesis. In the shoulders right now there will be some movements that it simple cannot make (that a human can). But it can work around them. Right now think it'll help - but we'll see.
